Diane Goldstein

Diane Goldstein is Professor of Folklore at Memorial University in St. John’s, Newfoundland. She is co-author with Sylvia Grider and Jeannie Thomas of Haunting Experiences: Ghosts in Contemporary Folklore, author of Once Upon A Virus: AIDS Legends and Vernacular Risk Perception, and editor of one of the earliest interdisciplinary AIDS anthologies Talking AIDS: Interdisciplinary Perspectives on Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome, published in 1991. In addition to these volumes, Goldstein is the author of numerous articles on the supernatural, vernacular health beliefs, folk religion, death and grieving, and narrative. Goldstein has been involved in Health priority-setting and policy-making initiatives over the last ten years including an appointment from 1994-1997 to the National Planning Forum for HIV/AIDS.
