In real life, Austin is a 45-year-old broadcast journalist. The Pentagon is his beat. America's military people overseas know him from radio and TV news reports transmitted to them daily on the American Forces Network. He's the senior reporter on the Two-Minute Report, a newsbreak program seen everywhere outside the U.S. that American service members are stationed.
