Bob Edwards recently left National Public Radio's "Morning Edition," which he had co-hosted since the show's debut in 1979, to assume duties as a senior news correspondant for NPR News. During his three decades with NPR, he has conducted more than 20,000 interviews, with everyone from President Clinton to Hans Blix to Johnny Cash. Edwards is the recipient of the 1984 Edward R. Murrow Award from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting for "outstanding contributions to public radio," and in 1999 he and "Morning Edition" won the prestigious Peabody Award in 1999. He is the author of the 1993 book, Fridays with Red. His most recent book is Edward R. Murrow and the Birth of Broadcast Journalism (John Wiley & Sons), published earlier this year.
