Gregory Donovan

Gregory Donovan is the author of the poetry collection, Calling His Children Home. His poems have appeared in journals across the country, including New England Review, Southern Review, and Kenyon Review. Several of his poems are about early figures in the history of jazz and blues music. He has won a number of awards for his writing, including fellowships from the Virginia Commission for the Arts and the 1991 Robert Penn Warren Prize from the New England Writers Organization. A professor of creative writing and 20th century literature at Virginia Commonwealth University, he helped establish its master of fine arts in creative writing program and recently completed a second term as its director.
