Fall for the Book to Receive $13,000 Grant from ArtsFairfax

Fairfax, VA (8/16/24) – Fall for the Book is awarded a 2025 ArtsFairfax Operating Support Grant to further its mission to connect readers and writers, and to enhance the role of reading and writing in the community. Fall for the Book believes in the power of literature and storytelling to bring us together, to foster connections between people and across communities, and that reading and experiencing literature together encourages cultural growth, expands our sense of empathy, and grows our knowledge of one another and the world around us. Fall for the Book is among 58 ArtsFairfax Operating Support Grant recipients based in Fairfax County, the City of Fairfax, and the City of Falls Church.

“We are grateful to Fairfax County and ArtsFairfax for supporting Fall for the Book. The ArtsFairfax Operating Support Grant allows us to keep our programs and the festival free, open to the public, and accessible to all readers throughout our community,” says Kara Oakleaf, Director.

“The arts and culture sector is growing in Fairfax, and ArtsFairfax is doing everything we can to raise public funding for the arts, empower the arts sector with resources, and amplify the opportunities available to artists and local residents,” says Stuart Holt, President & CEO of ArtsFairfax.

Operating Support Grants are foundational to the stability of local nonprofit arts and culture organizations. By distributing Fairfax County funds for the basic operation of arts and culture programs, services, and facilities local nonprofits provide to Fairfax County, the City of Fairfax, and the City of Falls Church, ArtsFairfax ensures the vitality of the arts in our community.

Fall for the Book’s flagship event is the annual Fall for the Book festival, as well as their year-round programming. All of their events aim to provide a writer for every reader, to offer readers opportunities to connect with authors and literature in new and vibrant ways.
